In a huge moment for Australian football, Tottenham Hotspur FC have announced Ange Postecoglou as their new manager. Ange’s first match as Tottenham Hotspur manager will fittingly be on home soil in Australia, when the Spurs take on London rivals West Ham united in what will be an unmissable night of football at Optus Stadium on July 18.

Ange becomes the first Australian to manage a team in the English top flight, having recently delivered Celtic a treble, winning the Scottish Premiership, Scottish League Cup and Scottish Cup in 2022/23, as well as securing the Scottish Premiership and League cup in 2021/22.

Optus Stadium CEO Mike McKenna said “The London Derby is another exciting event in the Stadium’s 2023 schedule. This week’s news means that Perth and Optus Stadium will be hosting Ange Postecoglou’s first match in charge of Tottenham. We had anticipated a big crowd for the match and now it will be even bigger, with so much more anticipation, on 18 July.”

An icon of Australian football, and former national team player, Ange’s decorated career has included winning the J1 League with Yokohama F. Marinos in 2019, two NSL premierships and Oceania Club Championship with South Melbourne, and wins in the A League Premiership in 2011 and the Championship Grand Finals in 2011 and 2012 with Brisbane Roar. Ange famously led the Australian senior national team from 2013 to 2017, taking the team to the 2014 FIFA World Cup, winning the AFC Asian Cup in 2015 and securing qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
